LOCAL BODY LOANS.
RECORD FOR HALF YEAR, A return published for the first time by the GoA r ernment Statistician indicates that, for the first six months of the present year, local body loans, totalling £3,164,147, have been authorised; of that sum the amount actually raised at June 30 was £983,735. The principal contributories to the authorisations were: Boroughs, £1,232,032; hai-bour boards, £710,650; electric power boards, £435,000; and counties, £390,455. Others included: Road districts, £92,250; town districts, £58,835; land drainage districts, £35,300; river districts, £1575; and city and suburban drainage districts, £212,000. The lastnamed amount was authorised during the June quarter.
