LONDON, Sent. 30. ine situation in Iraq appears to be that the Turkish troops are. still within the boundary of Mosul Villayet, and had burned villages, but that no offensive had been taken by British aeroplanes since September 24, except where aeroplanes were first fired c.n. In the meantime both sides have established a line whereon there is unlikely to be a clash. It is believed that Lord Thomson is at Alosul. GENEVA, Sept. 30. At a Consul meeting, whereat a Alosul Committee was appointed, Lord Parnioor said that fresh information showed the frontier situation to be precarious, and ~ emphasised that there must be no. disturbance. He gave a solemn undertaking on behalf of the British Government in this connection.
Fethi Bey gave a similar assurance. .It- was announced that both parties would share in the cost of the investigation by a special committee.—Reuter. In the House of Commons, Air J. R. Thomas, replying in regard fo the position of Iraq, emphasised that there was no question of a state of war between Britain and Turkey. After detailing the nosition, the Premier (Air Ramsay AlacDonald) said the British Government' had not yet received a reply to its protests to the Turkish Government against the invasion.
