PERILOUS PLIGHT

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT LONDON, Sept. 29. Richard, an .air mechanic, showed remarkable courage and nerve on board a Faiinan Goliath aeroplane while flying from London to Paris to-day.

A break bccurred in the carburetter control, and Richard, crawled along a wing of the aeroplane to repair the damage, hut as he was unable to do this lie lay for forty-five minutes with his feet- dangling in. space, holding the ends of the broken pipe together until the pilot was able to bring the aeroplane to the Lymnne aerodrome. Richard was numbed with the cold. When they landed eight passengers, including three women, were profuse in in their thanks for his heroic exploit, which averted an accident.
