The Napier Park spring meeting avasheld to-dav in fine Aveather up to the fourth race, when the sky clouded over and steady ran fell, the going for the last three races being heavy. The totalisator handled £14,496, against £13,520 last year, an increase of £976. Results:

EPINARD BEATEN AGAIN. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT t . NEW YORK, Sept. 27. Ladkm won the International race by a nose fr,diu Epinard. Wise Coun-. seller (aaEo recently defeated Epinard over six furlongs), was third. ' Time, 2.16 2-5. The race Avas the most exciting of the season. Had not Wise Counsellor oddly bumped Epinard at the beginning of the last furlong, the French champion Avould haA 7 e won, in the opinion of experts. From the barrier Epinard raced out in front, closely followed by Wise Counsellor. Zev Avas quickly run into the ground, and Ladkin and Wise Counsellor rdeed neck and neck from the half-mile to the stretch, with Epinard two lengths aAvay. In’ the stretch Ladkin took the lead. Epinard began to close rapidly. Ladkin faltered momentarily and Epinard was coming up fast when bumped by Wise Counsellor. Nevertheless Epinard reeoA r ered its stride and ran on almost even terms with Ladkin, Avho just pinched across the line a Avinner by a whisker.

RACING IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, Sept. 28. No New Zealand horses were placed in the Hawkesbury races. RACING IN ENGLAND. LONDON, Sept. 27. The Newbury Cup resulted: Diapason 1, Norseman 2, Keror 3. Eleven started in the NeAvbury Cup. Brise finished a head l in front of Diapason, but- Avas disqualified for bumping and boring.
