FRUIT CONTROL.
GROWERS’ RIGHTS. ' (nr TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION./ n .. . NELSON, Sept. 26. One oi the largest and most representative gatherings of lruit-growers ever held at Stoke took place last evenliig. Mr Allan and Colonel Gray, of the bruit Control Board addressed the meeting. It was unanimously resolved that a clause be inserted in the Fruit Control Bill ensuring a grower’s .light to dispose of his fruit by private treaty, provided such sales are made at a price not lower than those fixed by the hoard, the board to be notified the place and quantity to be shipped. It was resolved by 27 votes to 14 that, failing the insertion of the clause in question, .that the meeting approves of the Control Bill and is prepared to accept it sis it stands. The feeling of the meeting was unanimously in favour of control, provided provision was made for the disposal of fruit by private treaty, but not below the Control Board prices. Colonel Gray said this was quite in ...keeping with the control policy.
