NAPIER WATER SUPPLY.

NEW ARTESIAN BORE’S REMARK- • ABLE RESULTS. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NAPIER, Sept. 25. An artesian bore eight inches in diameter, which has been sunk in Napier, is giving remarkable results. . A slotted pipe down to a depth of between 242 and 255 feet is producing a flow of 720 gallons a minute—over a gallons daily—which is equivalent to the present supply from twenty-one threeinch bores, thus doubling Napier’s water supply, and assuring more trouble, with shortages during the dry summer months. Two further eightinch bores will be sunk by the contractor (J. Stewart, of Dunedin), so that the supply will more than meet requirements for many [years to come. The flow obtained is probably the best artesian supply from this size of bore in the Dominion.
