BACHELORS’ BALL,

The bachelors’ ba.ll at Rowan on i nursday evening proved one of the most popular and successful functions held m the Rowan Hall this season. A happy throng, totalling approximately sixty couples from all parts of tlm disfcric-t. attended and entered gaily into the enjoyment of a well-balaiir-ed programme' extending over a period of six dancing hours. Yinsen’s orchestra provided appreciated rhythm and allowed the maximum pleasure to be derived from dancing upon a well conditioned floor. Two “lucky” waltzing competitions attracted big entries. Mrs. T. Woodhead, partnered by Mr. H. Hard nicer, secured the lucky award in the first competition, the second competition being won bv Mrs. Wilson, whose partner was; the same fortunate gentleman. Another divergence from the conventional programme was provided in a ventrilcq-uial contribution rendered by Mr. A. Vinsen. whose cleverness was well received. Messrs. R. L. Mundy and R. Avery officiated as M.C.’s. Extra dances .were played by the Misses G. Lines and F. MeCandlish and. Messrs-. J. MeCandlish and C. Jeffries. The committee, headed bv Mr. R. S. Mundy (secretary), who is to be congratulated upon the successful organisation of the. ball, desire to express appreciation of the conrtosv extended by the committee of ladies who supervised the arrangements for the dainty supper served.
