WANGANUI, Sept. 23. A private cable received this morning from James Paddon stated that he had definitely retired from sculling and hands the title to Hadfield.

BT CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Sept. 23. Paddon to-day definitely announced his retirement as the world’s champion, and the title now passes to Hadfield. Goodsell has lodged a deposit for a race with Hadfield.
