HAWERA CLUB’S ANNUAL

MEETING.

The annual meeting of the -Hawera Amateur Athletic Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night, when Mr A. Grant presided over a good attendance.

On the motion of the chairman and Mr L. Hunt 1 , the annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers for the - ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Mr H. L. Spratt; president, Mr A. Grant; vicepresidents, Messrs F. A. Quin and L. Matter; committee, Messrs R. Allen, A. E. Gorton, J. J. Goodwin, R. Foy, R. I; McGregor,. C. P. Hutchinson, M. R. Jones, L. Hunt, C. S. Mahoney, A. Gray, H. N. Lester, and W. W. Thomas; timekeepers, Messrs G. Hostick and F. Foden; starter, Mr L. Marter; assistant starter, Mr M. R. Jones; lion, surgeons, Drs. Young and Sinclair; lion, solicitor, Mr Matthews; hon. auditor, Mr B. W. H. Smart; handicappers, Mr C. Whittington (running.) and Mr L. I. Marter; secretary and treasurer, Mr G, H. Weir; assistant secretary, Mr W. Watts. ;

On the motion of the chairman and Mr Dahl, the secretary was voted ten guineas for his past year’s services. Mr Whittington, speaking to: the motion, said that the success of the club was in no little way due to Mr Weir ’s efforts, and he would like to recommend that Mr Weir spend the amount on himself this year and not on the club members. ' ’

Mr C. Dahl was appointed coach for field events. 1

Seven new members were elected and the meeting then closed.
