A man named Honeycombe, while pighunting in Manawhe bush yesterday, - was about to stick a pig, when his knife slipped and caught him in the groin, severing an artery. A comrade sought assistance, but before he reached Mata-ta three hours had elapsed. Honeycombe suffered much loss of blood, and died several hours later-. A TAILOR’S DEATH. FOXTON, Sept. 22. A well- known citizen, A. H. Heasman, was found dead in his tailoring premises yesterday morning. Not having returned the night previous, a search was- made and the door -was found locked. Upon entering the! room filled with gas deceased was found in a sitting position near an .ironing gas jet with a ' cloth over his head. Circumstances point to suicide. He was a married man with a grown up family. An inquest will be held. INQUEST INTO A BOXER’S DEATH. DUNEDIN, Sept, 22. The inquest- concerning the death of Ronald McCallum, aged 27, in an amateur boxing t-ournev at Palmerston, was opened and adjourned. Dr. Thomas stated that deceased, after falling against the ropes, struck the'back o 7 his head cm the floor, fracturing iho base of the skull. The floor was padded. In answer to the coroner, witness stated as his opinion that if there had been more padding at the side of the ring the fracture of the skull would not have occurred.
