(From Our Own Correspondent). TOAVN BOARD. At the monthly meeting held on September 16 there were present: Commissioners McEwen, Hurliman and Bennett. The clerk apologised for the absence of the chairman, M,r Coad, who was indisposed. Commissioner McEwen was voted to the chair. A resident wrote regarding gorse which was growing on AA r eld and Browne Streets, and also, drew the board’s attention to an obstruction atthe north end of AVeld street.—The letter was held.ove,:- till next meeting. Mr J. AYoolnough applied for permission to erect a guard fence opposite his section on Atkinson Street. Permission 'y&s granted under the usual conditions. A resolution was carried that it be a recommendation to. the incoming board to consider the agreement between the Hawera County Council arid the- Norman by Town Board in connection with the upkeep of main roads through the township. Accounts to the amount of £92 17s were passed for payment. DOMAIN BOARD. At the monthly meeting c.f the Domain Board an application was received from Air AY. Archhold on behalf of the Methodist Church for permission to hold a sports meeting during the day and an epen-air concert in the evening on the last AY'ednesda.v in January, 1925. The sports programme would ho run hv the Normanby' committee, assisted bv the Hawera Athletic Association. The proceeds would he towards the erection of a new Sunday School to replace the one recently destroyed by lire. —On the motion c.f Cr. Bennett, seconded hv Cr. Hurliman. the application was granted under the usual conditions. It was decided to call: tenders for the lease of AHctoria Park for a period of 12 months, commencing November 1. tenders to close on'Monday, October 20. TOAA’N BOARD ELECTION. Considerable interest was taken in the election of the commissioners for the Normanhy Town Beard, the polling on this occasion bring heavier than usual, and resulted in four new members being returned, only one member of the previous hoard securing a seat.
