FOOTBALL.
HAWERA CLUB. A committee meeting of the Hawera Rugby Football Club was held last night, when it was decided to go on with the scheme organised by Mr L. U. Hooker, and the following resolutions w r ere carried: That Mr H. Good be thanked for his most generous offer to lend the money to purchase the alluvial gold free of interest, and the club offer thanks; that Mr Hooker be authorised to proceed with the art union as he has suggested 5 that an account he opened, in the Bank of New South Wale's, to be called- the Footballers’ Art Union, and that Messrs Goodwin and Hooker operate the same.
The medal donated by Mr D. L. Foreman for the most consistent player m the senior team was won by Mr W (Darlde) Robinson. The other medals donated by Mr Taylor and Messrs Bennett and Sutton, one for the most improved player and the other for the most consistent, w'ere deft over until the next meeting to be held on September. 24.
Some discussion took place as to players’ subscriptions. It was eventually decided to circularise all plavers who have not paid their subscriptions.
