Mr Patton, a New Hebrides missionary, reiterated the oft-repeated condemnation of the condominium system. He declared that the joint control authorities had no power to enforce their own decisions, . and this consequently led to all sorts of abuses. The Assembly resolved to ask Mr Bruce to make strong representations to the Imperial Government for the complete and impartial enforcement of the condominium, and failing that an arrangement with France whereby the islands pass under British control and instructing the Board of Missions to bring persistent pressure to bear on the authorities until the intolerable state of affairs is remedied.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
