FIGHT WITH A BOAR. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. - ) OPOTIKI, Sept. 15. Wild pigs are plentiful in the hilly bush country in the Opotiki district, and are proving a menace to lambs. A boar which caused trouble was the object of a chase by Gerald Joblin, whose sheep run is a few miles from town. Armed with a rifle he left his homestead accompanied by thre dogs. The boar was encountered’on a neighbour’s property. It was five feet long and three feet high and had powerful tusks. Joblin burled a of rock, which, hoAvever, did not put the animal out of action. The dogs attacked the boar, but were unable to bring it down. The boar chased the dogs and rushed Joblin, who tripped on the fern. The boar ripped his arm and chest open. The dogs then resumed the attack and the boar left. .Joblin, with his wounds bleeding copiously, walked to a neighbour s homestead, where the wounds were bandaged. Neighbours have planned a great boar lnint.
