NOTES AND COMMENTS. (By Maecenas). The Dannevirke Racing Club will hold its spring meeting-to-morrow. The acceptances are good, and some capital racing should be witnessed. Tutankhamen showed pace last season, and should show ua against a. moderate lot engaged in the Trial ?.r a^ es ' Kanaka ran a fine race at Marton, and he, too, may be in the money. • The horses engaged in the Neagle Memorial are not good, so possibly Megan and Tanadees may be the elect of bettors. “ If the two hard races extracted fi*om him at the Wanganui meeting have done no harm to Master Black he may run well in the Tapuata Hack. Merry Bells has won on each of her two last starts over hurdles, so if stripped at her best is certain to cause trouble in the Glengary Hurdles. Waetea is well iust now, and may again run prominently in the ITmutoroa Hack at Dannevirke to-morrow. A particularly poor field is .engaged in the President’s Handicap at Dannevirke, and Avonlea may do well. If reserved for the Ruahine Welter to-morrow the big gelding Tussore should be favourite with backers. Lady Joyce went so well at Marton that if started at Dannevirke to-mor-row bettors should be prepared to take a short price. As the first furlong of the Chelmsford Stakes is run on an up grade the 1.50 1-5 registered by Heroic is a wonderful gallop. When Gloaming won this' event in his first start his time was 1.52 1-5, I think, while it took that great galloper Sasanoff 1.53 1-5 jto get over the nine furlongs when he won this event.
