BULLET WOUNDS

DEATH OF ELDERLY WOMAN,

EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT MELBOURNE, Sept. 10. The fact that Miss Enwright met her death by foul play was proved beyond doubt when the inquest opened. The medical evidence disclosed that there were two bullet wounds in the head, and portions of flattened bullets of a small calibre were entangled in her hair. The indications are that she was shot from a considerable distance, and apparently she had been dead for several weeks. Deceased inherited a farm of 293 acres from her father. She lived a lonely life since the death of her mother twelve years ago. Rumours were current that she. kept a large sum of money in the house, which had been ransacked, apparently at. the time of the tragedy. . (Received Sept. 11, 9.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 11.

Miss Enwright was last seen alive on July 27, when, after a visit to Yaekdandah, she was driven by a neighbour to within a hundred yards of her house. When the neighbours forced an entrance to the house they found the bed unmade and the clothes usually worn by Miss Enwright when away from home in the room. The farm was badly neglected, and it is not thought possible that the unfortunate woman could have possessed much means. The police are endeavouring to find the person who was seen speaking to the woman on July 27.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
