Armed with a revolver and a makebelieve bomb, a Russian bandit relieved two Armenian diamond chants of 300,000 francs. Posing as a refugee who wanted to sell for that amount a parcel of diamonds smuggled iroip Russia, the bandit lured the Armemans_to a little cafe’ and produced two packets. He handed one to the Armenians and asked them to exaniine the jewels. While they were occupied m opening the packets the bandit wjyPPsu out a revolver and said • ‘Empty your pockets. This other packet contains a bomb, and if you attempt to call help we will all* be blown to pieces.” Thoroughly cowed, * -”- rn ? enj£ V ns handed over the money, whereupon the Russian locked them in the , bathroom and decamped.—Aus.N.Z.
