NELSON TOURNAMENT.
(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NELSON, Sept. 7. For the first time during the ladies’ hockey, tournament wet weather marred play to-day, making the ground very slushy. The results of play make a tie for section winners in each section, Ruahine and Southland having to play off in the B section, and Wellington A and Poverty Bay in the A section. Results:
A.Section.—Wellington beat Poverty Bay, 4 to 2.
B Section.—Ruahine beat Buller, 4 to 0; Southland lie at Manawatu, 3 to
The semi-finals in the sections will be played on Monday, and the finals on Tuesday. The following inter-island teams have been picked: North.—-Mrs MacDonald (Auckland), D, Robinson ,Manawatu), G. Newly (Poverty Bay), I. Hogg (Wellington), Mrs Hoppi (Ruahine), E. Swain (Hawke’s Bay), E. Wilson (Hawke’s Bay), F. Booth (Wairarapa), A. Hei (Poverty Bay), F. Hill (Poverty Bay), F. Swinburn (Wellington). Emergencies: R. Tankard (Hawke’s Bay), V. Isaacs (Manawatu), N. Forman (Ruahine).

CHRISTCHURCH TOURNAMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 7. The hockey tournament was concluded yesterday. Canterbury retaining the shield. Wellington beat Canterbury B by two goals to nil, and Canterbury A beat Auckland by two goals to one. In a Zanol Cup hockey match Auckland juniors beat Canterbury juniors by two goals to one.
