LAKE TAUPO RAILWAY.

PBOVISIONAL CONTRACT SIGNED. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) > WELLINGTON, Sept. 6. A provisional contract for building 40 miles of standard gauge railway, connecting Lake Taupo with the Main Trunk line at Kakahi, lias been signed by the Cannnell Laird Company. The contract will be confirmed after Mr Hiley, former General Manager of New Zealand Railways, has reported on the details of the work. The new line will be an important feeder for the Main Trunk.
