The police have been advised that the coastal steamer Wakatu Avent ashore'at Waipapa Point, at the mouth of the Clarence River, in a fog. All ai - e ashore. There are no further details.

BLENHEIM, Sept. 6.

The Wakatu went ashore at the mouth of the Clarence River early this morning, half stern on. The passengers and crew are safe. A heavy sea is running. Waipapa Point is 60 miles from Blenheim and 23 miles from Kaikoura. There is no telegraph, and a press representative lias gone out to the scene. ?
