CONSTRUCTION OF QR-UjiSERS. GENERAL MONASH’S REPORT. BY GABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT MELBOURNE, Sept. 5. In the House of Representatives General Monash’s report in connection with the building of the proposed new cruisers was received. It was more favourable to construction in England than in Australia. Mr. Bruce made a statement that he intended to call for alternative tenders, (1) for building two cruisers in Britain and one in Australia; (2) building by the same English firm one in Australia and one in England, so as to be able to compare the difference in cost; (3) for building one locally.
