MATAPU.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The ball held on Tuesday last proved to be successful in every way, dancers being present from all parts of the district. The function, which was the “finale” of the series of hall socials, was thoroughly enjoyed by all. An appreciative programme of dance numbers was rendered by Sharp’s orchestra. Extras were played by Mrs. L. Fleece and Messrs Taylor and Gilmour. M.C. duties were carried out by Messrs L. Preece. R. Guy, and O. Bootten, and the ladies are to be complimented on the excellence of the catering arrangements. During the evening the points prizes for the progressive euchre were presented to Miss Bootten and Mr. L. Hoskin, winners of the ladies’ and gentlemen’s prizes respectively.
