PERSONAL ITEMS.
Air. J W. Yearhury, who recently underwent a very serious operation, is reported to be progressing very favourably. The many friends of Air C. Adams will be glad to hear (says the Patea Press) that he is making good progress towards recovery after his recent accident.
The death of Sir Cyril Jackson is announced in a London cablegram. The deceased was formerly Inspector-Gen-eral and permanent head of the Education Department in West Australia, for which State he . later acted as Agent-General in London. He was a member and former chairman the London County Council, and interested himself in the unemployment problem. He contributed articles on this subject and on education to several of the reviews.
Another old and highly respected resident of Alasterton passed away on Wednesday morning in the person of Mrs. J. G\ Dagg, senr. She had been ailing for some months and the end was not unexpected. The deceased lady, who was a daughter of the late Thos. _Osborne, was born in Auckland in 1859. Mrs. Dagg could be ranked amongst the pioneers of the Masterton district, where she has resided for practically the whole of her life. Of a- cheerful and sympathetic nature and always willing to help those in distress she endeared herself to a wide circle of friends. For* many years she was an ardent worker in the Sunday School of Knox Church. The late Airs. Dagg leaves a husband, three T° n p *ft SSrS - D ‘ Da «g (Kaponga), J. G. Dagg (Masterton) and H. W Dagg (Pahiatua), and two daughters, ip rS ff Ea E - Troscott a nd Mrs. R. p. Taylforth, of Masterton.
