PLUNKET SOCIETY.
ASSISTANT FOR DR. TRUBY KING. RAILWAY FARE CONCESSION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOOIAIP'ON.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. The Plunket Society resolved that in view of the increasing demands by the Government on Dr. Truby King’s services the need for an understudy should be discussed without delay. Dr. King approved of the remit, that the Plunket work was really a woman’s work. In his opinion Miss Pattrick, director of Plunket nursing, would make an excellent successor to him. Dr. King reported that Mr. McVilly, manager of railways, had implied to the sub-committee regarding the request for a reduction on return railway tickets for delegates attending the biennial general conferences of the society in Wellington, stating that a proper business basis would be to arrange with the Health Department for a cross-entry crediting the Railway Department with the difference. Were this done Mr. McVilly would do everything in his power to facilitate the concessions.
