‘ ‘ PAINTED PEOPLE. ’ ’
/“Painted People,” a First National picture which boasts Colleen Moore as its featured player, is a photoplay of unusual contrasts, and contains aTwide range of settings. The 'story, which is based on the story “The Swamp. Angel, by Richard Connell, opens in the poor district of Clinton City, with' the action being supplied-by the pov-erty-stricken residents of the town. Next we are transported into the wealthy portion of Clinton City, with stately mansions forming the bn.< • ground for fashionably dressed meiifand women. Then the spectator is given-a taste of stage life) ivith many views behind the scenes” and “out front” to delight the eye. “Painted People,” which is coming to the Opera House 1 to-night and to-morrow night, lias been pronounced one of the most delightful, comedy dramas that ever graced fhe- ; silver sheet. It was directed by Clar-. enee Badger, and the cast includes Ben" Lyon, Charlotte Merriam, Joseph Striker, Charlie Murray, Russell Simpson, Mary Alden, Mary Carr, Sam De Grasse, June Elvidge, Anna Q. Nilsson, and Bull Montana. An excellent supporting programme will be presented.
KAPONGA PICTURES,
“Brawn of the North,” showing tomorrow night, featuring the famous Belgian wolf-hound “Strongheart,” is a picture worthy of Jack London’s “Call of the Wild.” The human story is strong, and, filmed as it is in Alaska, full of beauty, but the greatest interest is centred round Brawn the dog, his great fight with the famine stricken wolves, and his mating with Lady Silver, the wild she-wolf. Here is a picture that will delight by its freshness and its wonderful animal scenes.
EMPRESS PICTURES AT OKAIAWA
The Empress Pictures will show at Olcaiawa to-night, when the picture “Blue Beard Junior” will be presented. The story is said to be one of the most interesting, and in addition there will be good supports. A large attendance is expected.
