IN AUCKLAND PROVINCE. INCREASE IN PRODUCTION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) / - Auckland, sept. 3; The dairy season has opened auspiciously in the Auckland province. Butter returns for the season to the end of August show that 62,859 boxes were received at the Farmers’ Freezing Company’s grading stores, compared with 59,324 for the corresponding period of last season, an increase of 3535 boxes. The number of boxes received fo’r- ; grading during August totalled 48,560, against 47,803 received during Aiigust, 1923, an increase of 757. Cheese received for grading for the season to the end of August totalled 1913 crates, compared with 1994 for the corresponding period of last season, a decrease of 81 crates. During August 1030 crates were received, against 1049 received during August, 1923, a decrease - of 19 crates. ' 1 It was difficult to assess the prospects for production 'during the early months of the season, but assuming that normal conditions will prevail the outlook'is distinctly encouraging. The total butter-flit output for August was greater than that of August last year, when production was at a high level, and reports from various dairying centres stfite that the factor ies are expecting to handle increased supplies. As far as price is concerned producers are assured of a good market for the output of the first three months, sales of August and September make ha vino; already been made hv some factories.
