ST. MARY’S FLOWER SHOW.
A GREAT SUCCESS
The second afternoon and evening saw a continuation of the goad ' business that marked the opening day. There was a large crowd, present,' and all were keenly interested in the display, ihe orchestra under Mr D. Mitchell’s guidance discoursed a number of selecwhich were all much appreciated. All the stalls, and the refreshment room were given a very busy time. The gross financial results were very satisfactory, and testify to the good energetic work of the various committees. A great deal of credit is due to Mr T. G. Liddingtan, the capable and enthusiastic hon. secretary, to whom much of the. success must he attributed. ~lt was unfortunate that the bulbs o’-mlav suffered from the fact that the tune fixed was a fortnight too early to enable many prominent horticultural enthusiasts to make a show.
The results of comnetitions were as follows:
Teddy bear and sledge (Canadian —Mr H. P. Vinnicombe, guessed. 10. winning number 13; Five lb box chocolates (Canadian stall).—Winner, Mr G. Goddard, Hawera.
Six lb box chocolates (Canadian stall) Winner, Mr S. Rawcliffe, Hawera. glass jug (Canadian stall).- — Winner, Mrs George Alexander, Norma nbv.
Box of handkerchiefs (Turkish stall)— Mr G. Stone-Wigg.
