TENNIS CLUB

The annual meeting of the Tennis Club Avasi held in Mr. Eaves’ office on Thursday, August 28. There Avas an attendance of twelve, over Avhich Mr. H. J. Eaves presided. The chairman congratulated the members on the enthusiasm they had shoAvn in connection with the club, and felt sure the members Avould consider the credit balance as disclosed by the balance-sheet highly satisfactory. The secretary read the balancesheet, Avhich' shoAved a credit balance of £3B 8s 2d.

Election of officers resulted : Patron, Mr. W. H. Le Fleming; president, Mr. H. J. Ear-es; vice-presidents, Messrs. El. Burke, W. Morris. J. A. PettigreAv and F. Le Fleming; secretary and treasurer, Miss A. White; auditor, Mr. E. Wills. It Avas resolved that all present Avith poAver to add'be the committee.

It Avas resolved that the subscriptions for playing niembers be fixed at: Gents 12s (id, ladies 7s fid ; all subs, to by. paid by December 81. It was resohmd that the opening day be Wednesday, September 17, and that elu.b days be Wednesdays, and that the club provide balls for use on club days.

A hearty vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded the retiring secretary (Miss B. Le Fleming) and to the auditor (Mr. Wills) for their services during the year.

It Avas resolv'ed that certain repairs in connection Avith -court be carried out, including the procuring of a neAv net. repairing netting fence around court, re-tarring court and extending playing lines. It Avas also decided to haA-e a sliding door made lor pavilion and locks procured for the pavilion cupboard.

J\lr. 11. Putt offered to supply and deliver the necessary sand for retarring the court. Mr. Putt’s offer Avas accepted, gml he was thanked for same.

It Avas decided to hold a tennis dance, and the folloAving committee Ayere appointed to make arrangements for same: Messrs. H. Putt. S Le Fleming, F. Butler and Misses E' Surgenor and B. Le Fleming. The list for tea days was left in the .hands of Miss Surgenor to arrange. A A’ote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
