Mr Smith, secretary to the Cricket Board of Control, commenting on England bringing seventeen players, points out that the agreement made in 1920 between the Board of Control and Marylebone provides that teams touring England and Australia comprises fifteen players and a. manager only. The whole tour has been worked out on this agreement basis,, and if it resulted in a loss Marylebone would have to make up the cost of bringing two extva. men. Mr Smith regards their inclusion as a sign of England’s keenness to regain the ashes.—-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn." OKAIAWA CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Okaiawa Cricket Club was held’.on Friday evening, Mr G. Betts presiding. The secretary having left "the district, Mr H. R. Penny produced the annual report and balance-sheet. The report stated that the club had had a most successful season, and finished the season as winners of the Senior Championship Shield. The team played 15 matches, 10 , being won, 1 drawn, and 4 lost, the average score of the team per innings being 140 runs. Five of the players (P. M. Pratt, A. Thomas, A. Betts, H. R. Penny, and H. Hughes) represented South * Tara-
h'aki during the season. The leading batting averages were: H. R, Penny 30.5. P. AI. Pratt 28.3, A. Thomas 22: A. Betts, H. Hughes, T. Smith, and L. Hughes also bad good figures in that order. P. AI. Pratt headed the bowling with 27 wickets at a cost of 8.2, H. R. Penny, A. Betts, and C. Brooke being next in order. The bal-ance-sheet shows a very satisfactojSy credit of £l6 7s 3d. The club’s thanks for that are due to the members who ran the' hoop-la at the local sports, and the conversazione and presentation of shield, besides being a success socially, showed a profit. As the club will have to face heavy expenditure this coming season, including new matting, every endeavour must he made to help the finance. Several of our* last season’s players have left the district, and will he missed this season, especially our late secretary. Air T. AI. Smith. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The follow) ng officers were elected for the ensuing year: Patron, Air A. Lees; president, Mr J. E. Aleuli; vicepresidents, Alessrs T. Innes, G. Betts, and H. Kasper; secretary and treasurer, Air B. Barclay; captain, Air H. R. Penny; vice-captain, Air P. M. Pratt; delegates, Messrs Penny and Betts; selection committee, AlessrsPennv, B. Barclay, and C. Brooke; management committee, all present; auditor, Air A. Lees. Subscriptions were fixed at £1 1 s for nlayers; under 18, 7s 6d; lion, members, ss. It was decided to procure new matting and other material, and to hold a working bee on September 20 at 1 o’clock; also that a concert and dance in aid of the club’s funds be held on Thursday, September 11, a committee consisting of Messrs Penny. Barclay, and Betts to make all arrangements. It was also resolved that no unfinancial member be eligible to play after the third match. New members elected were Alessrs F. Rogers, Penfold, F. Atkins, and J. Linn.
