BOWLERS’ BALL. Another great success was achieved by tiie local bowlers at their ball last week, the floor space’ being' taxed to its full capacity. The hall and. supperloom were again tastefully decorated, and for this and the very excellent supper arrangements the ladies’ committee is deserving of very great praise. A fai>r sprinkling of the dancers appeared in fancy costume, for which two prizes were given. These were awarded to Miss McCallum (Peacock), and Mr Meßeath (Scarecrow). Messrs C. Brooke and H. Kasper acted as M’s.C., while Ren wick’s orchestra again gave every satisfaction with the music. Mr L. Houlahan, the club’s president, thanked those present for their liberal patronage; also Mrs Robb and Miss Smith for acting as judges, Messrs G. Syme and Co., and Burgess Fraser and Co. for donating pi'izes, and all those who had assisted towards making the ball such a successful function. During the evening Mrs l Grahame sang a song very nicely, and was recalled. CONOERT. On Thursday of next week a concert and dance in aid of the Cricket Club’s funds will be held in . the hall. The Football and Bowling Clubs have Hen liberally supported by the public, and I am sure that the. latter will extend their patronage to the Cricket Club. In order, to cater for the public, who invariably like something fresh, the committee has gone outside for talent, and has been fortunate to secure thß services of a concert party from Stratford. A really good programme of items, combining both quality and variety, will be put on.
