SOUTH AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. QUALIFYING ROUNDS. There was a good entry of amateurs and a fair number of professionals for the annual championship at Hamilton, which opened on Friday. The scores were not particularly good. Horton, however, played consistently, going round in 81 and 85, and leading the amateurs Dr.’e, of Uitham, with 86 and 90, got into sixth place in the list of those who qualified. Goss and Hussey, of Wanganui, also were in the sixteen. Norrie. Bell won the .Waikato championship with 173 strokes oyer the morning and afternoon rouuds, with Robinson 180 strokes the runner-up. This competition is open only to members of affiliated clubs in" the South Auckland district.. Bell was' the winner of this title last year.

In the professional, Moss (Auckland) and Blair (Christchurch), 163 each, led the field, and Mclntosh (Hutt) was next with 165. Ritchie (New Plymouth) was last with 181.
