MEMORIAL TO OFFICERS MEN. TABLET UNVEILED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. In the presence of a large body of seafaring people at the Sailors’ Friend Institute last evening Air Massey unveiled a tablet erected in memory of the odicers and men of the Ripple,’ lost on August 0. This is the tenth such memorial, the others being for the Ohau, Ilinemoa, Penguin, Ventnor, Lizzie Bell, Woolahra, Elingamite, Moana and Omaka. In the course of his remarks, the Premier said it was the duty of the Government to do all possible to make ships that go out from our ports safe for those who sail in them. While it could not «e said with certainty that wireless would have saved the Ripple’s men, they knew it had been valuable in many other cases, Air Alassey citing the Helen B. Sterling as one" of the most notable.
