ITALIAN MISSING. SEARCH BEING MADE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT VANCOUVER, Aug. 22. A message from the United States cruiser Richmond, near Greenland, states that the snip, with the cruiser Raleigh and the destroyer Barry, has been ordered to search east of Cape Farewell,.. Greenland, for Lieutenant Lockatelli, the Italian globe flyer, who accompanied the American airplanes but. who failed to arrive with them at Frederiksdal, Greenland. The United States cruiser Richmond reports: “Battling through dense fog over the last part of the perilous trip and feeling our way toward Frederiksdal with the utmost caution. “Lieutenants Smith and Nelson landed an hour apart under extremely dangerous conditions. Lieutenant Smith made 825 miles in 9hrs 55min. It is believed by some officers on the Richmond that Lockatelli may have proceeded to Ivigtut 'instead of halting at Frederiksdal. The Americans plan to leave for Ivigtut to-day (Friday), and hop thence to Indian Harbour, Labrador.” OTTAWA. Aug. 23. According to a dispatch from Battle Harbour, Labrador, a wireless from the steamer Lawrence, off Greenland, says a party of Eskimos has been organised to search for Lieutenant Lockatelli, the missing Italian aviator, between Cape Farewell, the southern point of Greenland, and Ivigtut, on the south-west coast, north of where the American aviators landed.
