SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS.
COURSE COMMENCES IN HAWERA. On Thursday evening an important ad wince m Sunday School methods was made m this district, when a teachers training course was commenced under the direction of the Rev. E. IK manures, general secretary of the Young People’s, Department of the Methodist Church of New Zealand. Ihirty-one teachers were oresentj ineluding a number from Norman by. The course, which is open to all teachers of all denominations, will cover eight weeks, the class meeting on Thursday night of each week. Similar classes are being held by Mr Blamires on the oilier week nights in Wanganui and •New Plymouth. Few men in New Zealand are more competent far the task than Mr Blamires. He has been for years a keen discerning student of child training and is familiar with all the modern developments in this important work. Added to practical experience is iui unusual gift of clear; and logical presentation, as was evidenced in his striking handling last mght of the opening subject of the series, ‘ The larget.” Mr Blamires dealt in a most trenchant manner with the threefold aim—the aim of education, the aim of school, and the aim of the teacher— and his various points were carefully followed by his audience. All who intend to take the course should join up by Thursday evening.
