WORK OF CONFERENCE. FRANCE SUPPORTS DELEGATES, BY CARLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Aug. 20, 11.55 a.m. PARIS, Aug. 19. Cabinet unanimously approved of the work of the French'delegates at the London Conference, ancl thanked them for the important result obtained in the interests of France. Mr MacDonald’s letter to M. Herriot was not commented upon by the I,eft press, but was denounced by the organ of the Right. The Echo de Paris declares that a series of British ■ intrigues to compel France to reduce the period of evacuation may be expected. The Franeaise describes the letter as a gratuitous bludgeon blow at M. Herriot’s head, and says: “The bankers reappear behind Mr MacDonald to blackmail France.” BERLIN, Aug. 19. A Cabinet meeting, presided over by Herr Ebert, unanimously approved of the attitude of the German delegation in- London, and decided to dissolve the Reichstag if the latter failed to sanction the agreement. The Government’s policy was subsequently made clear to the party leaders by Dr. Marx, who emphasised to them his conviction that M. Herriot could be trusted. According to the Tageblatt- the parties agreed that the delegation bad achieved everything possible.—Reuter.
