CLINGING TO A BEACON.

BOAT WRECKED ON BEEF. NATIVES’ THRILLING ORDEAL. SUVA. July 30. Two Fijians had a thrilling and narrow escape from death recently. The Government yacht Lady Escott was proceeding from’Suva to‘Naitonitoni, and "'hen passing the Rovadru beacon the master noticed someone waving from the beacon. The course of the vessel '\|*s altered, and it was seen that two Fijian natives were clinging to the beacon, apparently in a very weak con. dition. After some little trouble they were got on board, and told a tale of endurance. They were both middleaged men—Semi. turangani-Uoro (chief ot the town-) of the island of Yanuca, and the other was Efercmi, from the town of Vutulcvu. They had left auuoa the previous day in a small rowing boat hound for Xavua. In the darkness they blundered into the main reel, and before they could get clear their boat was smashed and carried away in the swirl of the big seas. The seas washed about at times over them, hut they hold on for no less than 11 hours.
