INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. RIGHT TO INDEPENDENT ACTION. EY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT, (Received Aug. 18, 8.5 a.m.) OTTAWA, Aug. 16. At Markham, Ontario, summarising the attitude of the Canadian Government on inter-imperial relations, the Premier, Mr Mackenzie King, in a speech, said: “We have maintained that the day is past when Canada .should, in her rclntkus with other pares of the Empire, not excepting Britain herself, take the position of a colony subordinate in position and inferior in status. While Canada did not claim that her interest or her powers were to any degree comparable to those of the Motherland, we contended that, to the extent of our interest, in inter-imperial as in all partnership arrangements, we are entitled to have our voice heard in matters of foreign policy, no less than in those of domestic concern. There should not be taxation without representation. ’ ’ —Reuter.
