AYOAfAX REAIOVED FROAI ROLL. REIXSTATEAIENT ORDER. (by telegraph —press association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 14. Ail unusual case was heard in the 'Supreme Court.to-day, when Airs C. A. Henderson proceeded against the Pioneer Club (a ladies’ club) claiming reinstatement as a member and £250 damages. The statement of claim was that there was a difference of opinion on a proposal to purchase premises for the club. Airs Henderson and another mem bet obtained a- legal opinion to the effect that- a voting paper sent to members was unlawful, and the ballot resulted in the rejection of the proposal. The committee took offence at plaintiff’s conduct, and after a mass of correspondence lemoved her name from the membership. There was also reference by counsel to a circular which was sent out injurious to plaintiff, in the course of which the president of the club said the committee had since acknowledged that its action was mistaken. Air Justice Salmond reserved the question ol damages, and made a judicial order that Airs Henderson be fully reinstated as a member of the dub. Be said it was admitted . that the defendants could not justify their actions. Airs Henderson’s conduct had in no way been improper, and her action in forwarding a. legal opinion to the committee was one which she was justified m taking as a member.
