WEDNESDAY COMPETITION. CTTY WIN WILSON BANNER. The final for the Wilson Banner was played yesterday at Hawera, when C'itv defeated Whnreroa by 14 points to 8. lhe play was open and fast. City carried play to Wliareroa’s 25, where ilammonu made a good attempt at scoring, but was collared on the line. Play was carried up and down field with Wliareroa pressing. Shortly after with AVhareroa attacking, E.' Death ■•ernmbled over. The try was converted oy G. Wills. Wiiareroa 5, C’itv 0 Goodwin put in a nice piece of work ami saved for City by fielding the ball. Play was again carried to City’s 25, where A; Kiicttman made a break for the line, hut was brought down and Wills kick tailed. Wliareroa 8 C'itv Hammond cleared G. Murphy scored a good try from the 25 for Wliareroa. 0. Shortly after half-time was called. City carried play to Wliareroa’s 25, where they were on the verge of scoring once or twice. Prom a good passing bout Wear scored City’s first try in the corner. A. Hoddinott-’s attempt- at goal failed. Wliareroa 8, City 3. City continued to attach, and good plav by Champion and Townsend brought plav within five yards of Wliareroa’s line. Shortly after Hoddinott dashed over. ITis attempt at goal failed.
