BIG RAID
OX CHINESE FACTORY. QUANTITY OF OPIUM SEIZED. BY CABLE- PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT. Received Aug. 14, 12.40 p.m. SYDNEY. Aug. 14. The biggest <raid of its kind ever carried out was made by the police on a Chinese factory jn Gloucester Street, and resulted in the confiscation of opium valued at £SOO, the discovery’ of a large quantity of shirts, valued at several hundred pounds stelling and made from, silk alleged to have been stolen from a city firm, and the arrest of a- wealthy Chinese merchant and his sen and another Chinese. Two of the arrestees are- charged with, offering a bribe to the police.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
