The biggest <raid of its kind ever carried out was made by the police on a Chinese factory jn Gloucester Street, and resulted in the confiscation of opium valued at £SOO, the discovery’ of a large quantity of shirts, valued at several hundred pounds stelling and made from, silk alleged to have been stolen from a city firm, and the arrest of a- wealthy Chinese merchant and his sen and another Chinese.
