ALPINE CLIMBERS
SAVED FROM DEATH. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. BY CABLE--PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Aug. 13. The Geneva correspondent of the Daily Express says that three young Italians, corded together without a guide, fell three hundred feet when near the 11,420 feet summit of “The Grand Deitil,” one of the most famous peaks of the Mont Blanc range. The cord struck an overhanging rock, miraculously supporting them as they hung helplessly in space over the glacier two thousand feet below. The accident was witnessed through telescopes from Chamonix, and alpinists rescued the climbers after they had been hanging for six hours. One had a broken leg, a second was half mad with pain from internal injuries, and the third had slight wounds.
