— * XOMIXATK>XS CALLED FOR. ‘‘lt lias, been brought under niv notice by a petition of ratepayers iii the Opnnake Electric Power district that at the last general election of members ol the Egmont County no representatives for that portion of the county, being the constituent district of the Opnnake Electric Power district, were elected, and the ratepayers also point out that the present members of the hoard are not giving .satisfaction,” wrote Mr. F.‘ W. Furkert, Engineer-in-Chief and Under-,Secretary of the Public Works Department, t'o the Egmont County Council at yesterday’s meeting. } ll the case where there has been failure to elect members of a power board, the letter further stated, the Governor-Genera! may appoint qualified persons as members of the board. The number of members on the board representing the portion of the county in question was five, and with a view to rectifying the position which had arisen, it was asked that a ouhlic meeting oi ratepayers of the portion of the county affected bo culled' to nominate ti\e qualified persons as their representatives on the Power Board. The meeting is to be . held at the Town H«IJ. Opnnake. on . Monday. August 18. at 2 p.m.
