THREE REVOLTS. BRITISH BATTALION DESPATCHED. BY CABLE—'-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 13, 11.25 a.m LONDON, Aug. 12. It is learnt that a British battalion is proceeding from Egypt to reinforce the British troops in the Soudan, in consequence of three outbreaks following oro-Egyptian demonstrations, firstly by cadets at the military school at Khartoum on August 9, whom a company of British troops disarmed; secondly, by an Egyptian railway battalion at Atbara on August 10; thirdly, on the same day by Egyptian railway men, who broke barracks armed with clubs. Led by a suspended official they paraded the town and returned to barracks. The townspeople are calm.—Reuter. CAIRO, Aug. 12. The newspaper Elahram states that ten were killed and nine yvounded when the British troops fired on a proEgyptian demonstration at Atbara, Soudan, in which an Egyptian railway battalion participated. - The railway soldiers were confined to barracks, from which they tried to break out. attacking the guards with bricks and stones. The guards, who were Arab infantry, fired after giving warning. It is stated that later the British troops were present, but did not fire. —Reuter
