CUPS'TO ENCOURAGE PRODUCTION. The Wanganui Fresh Food Company lias offered to the Wanganui, Stratford. Egmont and New Plymouth A. and P' Associations a cup each for competition, and a conference was held at Stratford yesterday, at which Egmont and Stratford A. and P. representatives were present to decide the conditions of competition. New Plymouth notified the conference that they were prepared to abide by the. decisions of ijlie conference. Mr F. W. Court, representing the company, was also in attendance. The value of each cup is 25 guineas, and is being given bj” the company as an encouragement to increase production. The competition is for the best grade or crossbred cow, to be judged on dairy type, and is open to all animals not registered in any herd book; open to owners of more than five cows, and no owner of more than 50 per cent, pedigree cows is to be able to compete with his other cows. No cow can win two years in succession at any one show, and any number of cows can be entered by the same owner, and no cow can win more than one cup in anv period between July 1 to June 30. A cup becomes the property of the owner when Avon three times, not* necessarily in succession. The idea of the competition is to encourage the average dairy farmer who does not go in for pedigree stock to take an interest iu A. and P. shows.
