SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 12. New Zealand will he represented by Dr. P. H. Buck in the Bayard Dominick expedition, which will, visit, the northern group of Cook Islands in December. The Bishop Museum, Honolulu, will be the headquarters of the expedition, which is the fifth organised by Yale College for Polynesian research. . ' ( The object is a scientific study of the .phys’co-1 characteristics ot the various inhabitants of the, Polynesian groups, their material, culture, social organisatioiiSj religion and linguistics, the ultimate aim being to determine to- what race the Polynesians originally belonged.
