AUCKLAND X. WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 11. Students from the Auckland Teachers’ Training College arrived in Wellington to-day for the annual series of contests wit-li Wellington students. The visitors mot with a most cordial receptio. They were given an official welcome in the large hall of the Training College. The visitors, who were headed by Mr D. M. Rae, M.A., vice-principal of Auckland Training College, were welcomed by Mr W. Gould, M.A., principal of Wellington Training College, and Mr J. A. Caughley, Director of Education. Boxing representatives met in the Town Hall this afternoon. Wellington defaulted in one contest, but took the rubber with three wins to two. Results:—
Featherweight. Hay (Wellington) beat Butterworth (Auckland). Lightweight.—Gardiner (Wellington) beat Barnes (Auckland). Welter.—Hall (Wellington) tost to Corinack (Auckland). Middle.—GoodalL (Wellington) beat Smith (Auckland). Heavy.—Auckland won bv default.
