Says the Southland Times .- —A wellknown local' business man has just broken a complete fast, lasting’ 18 days , during the whole of which "time he attended business regularly, and except for taking no food, did not in any way alter his or dinar} - daily routine. As a consequence of this rather remarkable performance it is asserted that he now enjoys absolute freedom from rheumatism .of a longstanding nature, as well as a great improvement in general health.
“Leave a public servant alone and ne will build up a department around himself,” was a caustic truism uttered bv the Hon. W. H. Triggs, M.L.C. during the course of the visit of ’the Committee of Inquiry into Feeblemindedness, of which he is chairman, to the Bovs’ Training arm at Wera-’ roa. ‘ Mr. Packwood, head of the Public "Works Department in Wairoay made the interesting discovery a few days ago of some beautiful waterfalls on the unper reaches of the Nuhaka River. They are in three terraces and of a height of about 120 feet. Those who have viewed the falls state that they are quite picturesque and could be uspcl for power purposes.
