LITTLE WAIHI ROAD.
DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL. A deputation from residents on the Little AVaihi Road, just past the Racecourse, waited on the County Council on Saturday to ask for work to be
done on their road. They stated that tliev had agreed to a loan. The chairman said the position was that the road was, by some oversight, never dedicated hv the AA’inks Estate when tln« property was cut up. The Council was anxious to assist Hie settlers, but could do nothing until the dedication was completed. Re suggested getting a petition signed indemnifying the Winks Estate, and get the mattei" in order. He appreciated the difficulty, and would, with Hie Herk. do all possible to help them with the petition. He added that some years ago the Council had a “rap over the knuckles” for doing work on a non-dedicated road and spending public money on such a road, and he did not wisli it to recur. The work had to be dene, and it was a matter for consideration whether the- whoke or part should he done.
