ALLEGED THEFT.
ACCUSED REMANDED. At tlx* lOltiiam Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, before Mr J. W. Stubbs, .CP., Alex. Kcr, a travelling piano tuner, was charged with having on tiie otl. August, 1924, at Eltliani, stolen one suit of clothes, valued at £5 JOs, the property of Ernest Clare. Constable Townsend gave evidence that he had been informed bv Air Clare on Wednesday morning that a box suit which had. been hanging on a hook in front of his shop in High street was missing. He (witness) immediately set to work, with the result that the landlady of th’e West End Boarding House, where Ker was staying, informed him that Ker was wearing a suit similar to the one missing. Kcr was arrested on Thursday night. Witness- found an overcoat, Fuji silk, and other articles in the possession of accused, which had been missing from shops in flawera. Accused had admitted stealing the silk. Two kodak cameras among accused's goods were taken possession of by witness. On the application of the constable Tver was remanded to appear at Tfawera on August. 1-ttli. No application for bail was made by accused. —Argus.
