WORLD FLIGHT.

♦ PLANS OF AMERICANS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Aug. 7. A telegram from Newport News, Virginia, says tlio United States airmen “hopped off’’ for-Pieton, Nova Scotia, in the Douglas cruising plane in which Lieutenant Wade, whose plane was wrecked en route to Iceland, will resume his round the world flight. A safe landing place for the worldfliers on the next “hop” is located on the east coast of Greenland at Ekaluit, so the military department has been informed.. . Ekaluit is 750 miles from Reyjavik, Iceland, where two ’planes have been awaiting word. It is expected.that the early resumption of the finish of the 26,000-mile air line round the world will now be made. SUGGESTED ABANDONMENT. Received Aug. 9, 9.40 a.m. WASHINGTON, Aug. 9. In reference to a report from Iceland that Admiral Magruder, of the flagship Richmond, - had summoned a conference to discuss the advisability of calling off. the world flight of the U.S.A. aviators because of the ice conditions on the Greenland coast, army air officials declare that no dispatches had been received from the army advance party accompanying the world flyers or from the naval convoy which indicates /the necessity to abandon the flight. Admiral Magruder’s action came as a complete surprise, as the latest official reports received here were decidedly optimistic. ,

Major Raderaide, in charge of the flight, declared: “Our ships will come on just the same, even if the navy decides to withdraw the warships guarding the line of flight.”—Reuter.
